Joining
What version do I need?
▼
Java: 1.26.2 or newer.
Bedrock: Any recent version should work — just make sure your game is up to date.
Do I need any mods to join?
▼
Nope — vanilla is fine. The only optional mod is Simple Voice Chat for Java players who want in-game proximity voice. Everything else works out of the box.
Is there a whitelist?
▼
No whitelist — the server is open to join. Just read the
rules before you do.
How do I join on console?
▼
Console is supported. Add
BillySMP6317 on Xbox Live, then open Minecraft →
Play → Friends and join from there. Works on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch.
Xbox profile → BillySMP6317
The Server
Is the server always online?
▼
The server runs 24/7 for the most part. Occasional downtime can happen for maintenance or unexpected issues, but it's generally always up. Check the Discord if something seems off.
How does land claiming work?
▼
There's no land claim mod — it's intentional. People are free to build secret bases without their location being visible on a map or claim system. In practice, your land is where you're building plus a reasonable perimeter. Check the
extended rules for specifics on torch-claiming, fences, and what you can't claim.
Why is The End locked?
▼
The End fight is being saved for a proper server event once enough players are active. Prep work in The End is allowed in the meantime — the fight date is just TBD.
What's the voice chat situation?
▼
The server has Simple Voice Chat installed for Java players who want proximity voice in-game.
No mod? No problem — just join a voice channel in the Discord and type /dvc start in-game to link up. Type /dvc stop when you're done.
Why's the server talking?
▼
The server has a personality — it'll call you out when you die, roast you a little, and announce achievements (especially if you got them suspiciously fast).
If you see a message from [Server] specifically, that's the owner talking directly through the terminal. Nobody else has access to it, so if it says something, it's coming from me.
How do I know my builds are safe?
▼
The world is backed up periodically, so progress isn't just sitting on one machine with no safety net. On top of that, every once in a while the entire BillySMP world gets archived to a physical DVD — yeah, an actual disc.
Your builds are in good hands.
Rules & Issues
What happens if someone griefs or steals from me?
▼
Report it to an admin in the Discord. Griefing and theft are both bannable — admins have final say on all disputes and will sort it out.
Can I build a farm or automated contraption?
▼
Most farms are fine. The one hard rule: no lag machines — that's an immediate permanent ban, no exceptions. If you're unsure whether something counts, ask an admin before building it.
Troubleshooting
I can't see the server in my Friends tab (console).
▼
Make sure you've added BillySMP6317 on Xbox Live and that the friend request was accepted. Then restart Minecraft and check the Friends tab again — it can take a minute to populate.
Also confirm the server is currently online before trying. If it still doesn't show, check the Discord.
Do I need PS Plus, Switch Online, or Xbox Game Pass to join?
▼
Yes — all three consoles require an active online subscription to play Minecraft multiplayer:
Xbox — Xbox Game Pass Core, Essential, or Ultimate
PlayStation — PlayStation Plus (any tier)
Switch — Nintendo Switch Online
This is a platform requirement, not something BillySMP controls. If you're getting a subscription error, that's likely the issue.
Bedrock says "Unable to connect to world."
▼
Double-check that you entered the address and port exactly as shown:
Address: billysmp.ddns.net · Port: 19132
Common mistakes: wrong port number, extra spaces, or a typo in the address. Delete the server entry and re-add it from scratch if needed. Also make sure the server is actually online.
Java says "Outdated client" or won't let me connect.
▼
The server requires Java 1.26.2 or newer. Open the Minecraft launcher, go to Installations, and make sure your active version is up to date. If you're on a modpack or older profile, switch to the latest release.
The status says offline but someone told me it's up.
▼
THEY LIED!! Nah, just kidding — status comes straight from the bot's own monitoring now, not a third-party checker, so it should be accurate within about 15 seconds. If it still looks wrong, try connecting directly, or check the Discord for any announcements.
Voice chat isn't working.
▼
Java players with the mod: Make sure Simple Voice Chat is installed on the client and that your mic isn't muted in-game. Check the mod's settings (default key: V) to configure your input device.
No mod / Bedrock / Console: Join a voice channel in the Discord and type /dvc start in-game. If the command doesn't respond, make sure you're actually in-game and connected to the server first.
I have a question that isn't answered here.
▼
Ask an admin in the Discord — that's what we're there for.
