What version do I need?

Java: 1.26.2 or newer, though ViaVersion/ViaBackwards means slightly older or newer clients can usually still sneak in.
Bedrock: Any recent version. Update your game, it's not hard.
Do I need hacks to survive?

No, but it won't hurt. Most clients are fair game — x-ray, ESP, auto-farmers, whatever. Fly, reach, and killaura will get you bodied by the anticheat, so don't bother. Everything else is between you and whoever you piss off.
Is there a whitelist?

Nope. Come one, come all. Read the
rules first so you know what you're walking into, but nobody's gatekeeping the door.
How do I join on console?

Play → Friends and join from there. Works on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. Yes, you'll be at a disadvantage on a controller. No, we don't care.

The Server
Is the server always online?

Mostly, yeah. Runs 24/7 for the most part with occasional downtime for maintenance or something breaking. Check the Discord if it seems dead.
How does land claiming work?

It doesn't. There's no claim mod, no protection, nothing. Build a base and it might be gone tomorrow. That's not a bug, that's the entire pitch.
Is The End locked here too?

Nope. Go get your ass kicked by the dragon whenever you feel like it. No events, no scheduling, no hand-holding.
What's the voice chat situation?

Simple Voice Chat is installed for Java players who want proximity voice in-game.
No mod? Join a voice channel in the Discord and type /dvc start in-game. Type /dvc stop when you're done screaming at whoever just killed you.
How do I know my builds are safe?

They're not, and that's the point. The world itself gets backed up so we don't lose the whole map to a crash — that's not the same as your stuff being safe from other players. If you wanted safety you'd be on Survival.
Rules & Issues
Someone griefed / robbed me. Do something.

No. That's Tuesday. Go steal it back, or build somewhere less obvious next time. Admins don't roll back anarchy deaths, griefs, or thefts — read the
rules if this surprised you somehow.
What actually gets me banned?

One thing: attacking BillySMP itself. Crash exploits, packet spam, dupe bugs aimed at breaking the server — that's the line. Everything else (griefing, stealing, PvP, x-ray, most hacked clients) is fair game and not staff's problem.
Can I build a farm or contraption?

Sure, as long as it's not a lag machine. That still gets you removed — a laggy server ruins it for everyone, anarchy or not. Everything else, go nuts.
Troubleshooting
I can't see the server in my Friends tab (console).

Make sure you've added BillySMP6317 on Xbox Live and the friend request went through. Restart Minecraft and check again — it can take a minute. If the server's offline it obviously won't show up either.
Bedrock says "Unable to connect to world."

Check what you typed: Address billysmp.ddns.net, Port 19132. Delete the entry and re-add it if you're not sure. And check the server's actually up before blaming your game.
Java says my client is outdated.

You need Java 1.26.2 or newer. Go into the launcher, check your installations, update the damn thing.
The status says offline but someone told me it's up.

Status comes straight from the bot's own monitoring now, not some third-party checker, so it's usually accurate within seconds. If it still looks wrong, just try connecting — if you get in, the page is lying, not the server. If you can't either, check Discord.
Voice chat isn't working.

Java with the mod: make sure Simple Voice Chat is installed and your mic isn't muted in-game (default key: V).
No mod / Bedrock / Console: join a Discord voice channel and type /dvc start in-game. If nothing happens, make sure you're actually in the server first.
